  How do I register my class?

What is the cost of the  Big Science Competition?
Registration Fees are N1,500 for students within Nigeria.
 

Can we sit the Big Science Competition on another day?
You can do it at a later time, but your students will not be eligible for the National Awards. They will still receive Certificates of Participation.

Who can sit for the competition?
Junior: Basic Education Class 8 & 9
Intermediate: Secondary School Class 1
Senior: Secondary School Class 2 & 3

What is the length of exams?
The competition takes 75 minutes. There are 30 multiple choice questions.

Do I need to study for the Big Science Competition?
No. The questions test scientific thinking and problem solving skills.

Can I get the previous year’s papers?
The papers from previous years are on our website.

When did the competition start?
The Rio Tinto Big Science Competition started in 2005 in Australia.

When do I send back the completed papers?
Completed papers will be collected at the examination venue.

Are there awards for the students who participate in the Big Science Competition?
Yes. The certificates awarded are High Distinction, Distinction, Credit, and Participation.

Top students are invited to attend an award ceremony.
